The City Council unanimously approved Ordinance #2026-7 to amend Chapter 35, Section 15 of the Chicago Heights Code of Ordinances, increasing the number of commanders that the Police Superintendent may appoint from two to three. The motion was made by Alderman Vincent Zaranti and seconded by Alderman Sonia Perez.
Corporation Counsel T.J. Somer explained the change to the code during the meeting. The ordinance passed with all aldermen voting in favor. Council minutes record the action as intended to adjust the Police Department's internal composition under the superintendent's authority.
