Canvassing board authorizes tabulation, cure procedures after reporting 7,184 mail ballots returned

Supervisor of Elections Amy Pennick provided the board with a vote-by-mail report and asked for authorizations to continue standard processing. "As of 6PM last night, 07/30/2026, this office has issued 38,720 vote by mail ballots. We have had vote by mail ballot returned and in our possession of 7,184. Vote by mail ballot verified for tabulation, 7,097," Pennick said on the record. She explained 87 returned ballots are currently in the signature-referral process (13 no signature, 55 signature difference, 19 moved out of the county) and that 349 ballots were returned undeliverable.
Following the report the board authorized staff to open, tabulate and duplicate vote-by-mail ballots following the public L&A test and to continue the established cure process consistent with Fla. Stat. §101.68. The board also authorized staff to accept, refer or reject cures and to present any ballots that do not meet statutory requirements at a later canvassing meeting for final determination.
