Two small mining projects — Juniper Lode and Beacon Hill — set for public comment in June

Brady Owens of the Wells Field Office said the Juniper Lode project, a small vein-style quartz excavation inside a Wilderness Study Area, will limit disturbance to no more than about 1 acre open at a time within a larger 20-acre overall project area. He said Juniper Lode will be posted for public comment on June 19.
Owens also described the Beacon Hill/Apozilon exploration project (proponent Greymont) as an exploration action covering about 47.9 acres of disturbance primarily on existing roads and pads; he said Beacon Hill will be posted for public comment on June 26. Owens characterized Juniper Lode as producing individual high-grade quartz specimens for collectors and said Beacon Hill is a more standard exploration document for its size.
