St. Johns County issued a proclamation recognizing organizers of a Zero Suicide St. Johns Day summit scheduled for Aug. 12, county public affairs staff said on a local radio program.
Wayne Larson, director of public affairs, told the program that the summit will include speakers such as the county fire chief and the director of health and human services and that the event ties into the county's strategic priority of community well-being. "It's happening here in Saint John's County... The public is welcome to participate in that," Larson said.
Why it matters: County officials framed the summit as part of broader community-wellbeing efforts and said the proclamation is intended to raise awareness about suicide prevention locally. Organizers will provide additional event details through county channels ahead of the Aug. 12 event.
