Village fire department recommends FEMA-funded Community Risk Reduction plan; Advanced Selections LLC preferred

During the Committee of the Whole meeting, Fire Chief Vlietstra explained that the fire department received a FEMA Fire Prevention Safety grant to fund a Community Risk Reduction Assessment and related standards work.

Chief Vlietstra said the department "received a FEMA Fire Prevention Safety grant in the amount of $75,000.00 with a cost share of $3,571.43." He told trustees the grant funds would be used to begin a multifaceted Community Risk Reduction Assessment & Standards project to assist the village in developing a comprehensive Risk Reduction Plan. The chief said the project would help with the department's next ISO rating and that five proposals were submitted; he recommended Advanced Selections LLC as the strongest proposal. He added that the proposals were significantly less than the grant award and said the remaining funds could be used for other departmental needs.

Trustees did not vote at the Committee of the Whole; they agreed to put the chief's recommendation on the next regular meeting agenda for formal action. The Committee did not record contract terms, scope-of-work details, or a start date at this session.
