County engineer reports flood damage, project timelines and sign installations

County Engineer Adam Miller told the board that heavy rains and flooding along the Cedar and Little Cedar Rivers paused shouldering work on B60 and caused a culvert washout on 140th Street between Indigo and Jersey Avenues; 140th Street remains closed while other flood-related closures have reopened. Miller said rock resurfacing began this week in the southwest quadrant and that check plans for HDP(117) 155th Street Bridge were submitted for a November letting. Packard Avenue (T47) resurfacing is scheduled for late August or early September, and bridge replacement continues on 170th Street south of Rudd.
Miller also reported that all speed limit signs required under the new legislation have been installed and that surplus pickups will be offered for auction after Decatur County declined to purchase them. He framed these as routine operational updates tied to flood response and scheduled county projects.
