Berkeley County planning staff told the commission that the Berkeley Group will present the final draft of the county comprehensive plan at the commission's Aug. 17 work session; if the commission approves the draft, staff will set a public hearing to recommend the plan to the County Commission.
Commissioner John Hardy said that, once the comprehensive plan is finalized, staff will begin drafting an ordinance subsection addressing data centers and solar farms to set standards where those uses apply. Commissioner Mike Bush also suggested monitoring a nearby Jefferson County case over denial of a bottling plant in Middleway to determine potential implications for historic-resource reviews in subdivision applications.
