The Board of Trustees of the Village of Denton opened a public hearing on proposed zoning code revisions and held the first reading of Ordinance No. 26-5-1 on May 21, 2026. Trustee Amanda Fangmeier moved to open the public hearing at 6:35 p.m.; Trustee Ryan Osborn seconded and the motion carried. Jason Combs of Miller & Associates presented the proposed changes to the village's zoning regulations and official zoning map.
Trustee Fangmeier later moved and Chair Joe Hobelman seconded to introduce Ordinance 26-5-1 and hold its first reading. The motion carried; the board scheduled the second reading for the June 1, 2026 meeting. The ordinance text included language adopting an updated zoning map and repealing inconsistent prior ordinances and will be considered again at the June meeting before final action.
The hearing record in the minutes shows discussion between the consultant and citizens in attendance but does not record numeric vote counts; motions are recorded as "carried." Any public comments or requests raised during the hearing will be part of the record for the June 1 second reading.
