Peekskill expands public art and prepares Paramount renovation

Mayor Vivian McKenzie said Peekskill’s art scene strengthened in 2024 with public sculptures and murals, and she announced further events and installations planned for 2025. “Hudson Valley MOCA brought its DRI funded Enlightened Peekskill project to reality with 3 new sculptures,” she said, and the Peekskill Arts Alliance commissioned several murals across downtown.
She also highlighted the Paramount Theater’s rebound, reporting it reached a post-pandemic high of nearly 60,000 ticket sales and plans a major DRI-funded renovation to expand programming in 2025. The mayor said Hudson Valley MOCA and the city will host artist talks and events later in the year.
