Oak Ridge council approves 3% raise, $3,000 bonus and three-year extension for city manager

The Oak Ridge City Council voted unanimously to amend the city manager's employment agreement, approving a 3% salary increase retroactive to the start of the pay period on 11/01/2024, a one-time $3,000 bonus and a three-year extension of his contract to 11/21/2029.

"The council's ratings of our city manager after his 1st year here were extremely positive," said the chairman of the city manager evaluation committee, who presented the committee's report and recommendation. "We recommended unanimously that the city manager's salary be increased by 3% retroactive to the beginning of the pay period 11/01/2024" and that a $3,000 bonus be awarded in recognition of his performance. The motion to adopt the resolution passed without opposition.

The committee reported it met twice to set evaluation protocols and to review full performance evaluations and objectives. The package also includes adjustments to accrual rates and leave balances for general and emergency leave, and directs the mayor to work with the personnel director on implementation. Councilmembers did not request amendments during the vote; the motion carried 7'0'00.
