During the meeting staff presented a proposed list of zoning district titles to guide the county raft zoning map. Staff (Speaker 6) read the draft list and said the nine categories included general residential, rural residential, rural community, multifamily, manufactured/mobile homes, general agriculture, farmland preservation agriculture, commercial, industrial and recreational & natural resource.
Members discussed minor consolidation and where special-purpose uses (such as institutional or conservation lands) might fit. One member argued that additional districts can be created later if the mapping process identifies a need. The chair called for a motion to finalize the nine district titles; the motion passed after a second and a verbal aye vote.
Staff noted the district titles are an early step: mapping and specific use definitions remain to be completed and will be addressed as the draft zoning ordinance proceeds.
