Road & Bridge staff told commissioners May 26 that the office's main phone line has been down since May 5 and that CenturyLink has acknowledged the problem but provided no estimated time for repair.
"The phone line at the Road And Bridge is down, it's been down since May 5... They are aware of it as a big part of a bigger issue, and they do not have an ETA for repair yet," the Road & Bridge representative said. In the interim the department has forwarded the office main number to a cell phone so that calls can be answered and staff are exploring alternative phone-system options, including replacing the current system as part of a courthouse rollout.
The county did not set a specific timeline for a permanent replacement during the meeting; staff said work is continuing with CenturyLink and other options are under evaluation.
