Principals Tell Pendleton School Board New Cell Phone Policy Teaches Workplace 'Soft Skills'
Building principals described a newly aligned cell phone policy they say teaches students appropriate phone use and reported mostly supportive parent feedback. The districtboard expressed strong support and will monitor implementation.

Pat Dutcher, principal at Pendleton High School, and Piper Kelm, principal at Sunridge Middle School, presented the districtwide cell phone policy and described its development, alignment across buildings and current implementation. They said the policy "teaches students soft skills of appropriate phone use that will be beneficial in future employment," and reported only minimal parent pushback earlier in the school year.
