Surry County approves MOU with Dendron to coordinate economic development

County staff presented a memorandum of understanding between Surry County, the Surry County Economic Development Authority and the Town of Dendron that lays out cooperative steps to promote business recruitment, fast-track zoning assistance and joint studies of water-system improvements. The MOU references Virginia Code section 15.2-1301 as the statutory route for a voluntary economic growth-sharing agreement.
Miss Perkins told the board the town council and the EDA had already approved the MOU in public meetings and staff asked the board to vote to approve the agreement and sign it for the record. The board moved, seconded and voted to approve the MOU; officials from the town and EDA came forward for a signing and a photograph with board members.
