Travis County launches public CIP dashboard as construction activity ramps up

The commissioners court heard a quarterly Capital Improvement Program update on Aug. 4, including a public launch of the county’s new CIP dashboard that aggregates active projects and status information. Presenters said the county has 61 active CIP projects across design, right‑of‑way and construction stages and a total CIP budget of about $1.1 billion, of which roughly $560 million is encumbered.

Presenters highlighted several projects moving toward construction, including the Wells Branch Parkway extension (construction procurement in progress), Old Manor Road safety improvements (expected construction Q4 2026), and the Pierce Lane project. County and consultant staff said construction activity has increased compared with earlier in the year and that the public dashboard — posted to the county Public Works page — is intended to help residents locate project managers, see project status, and monitor construction timelines and outreach.

Commissioners asked about website searchability and accessibility; staff said they would improve search keywords and work with IT to make the dashboard easier for residents to find. "We are now active in a public access dashboard on the site," a presenter said, adding the public site went live the prior day. Commissioners welcomed the transparency and encouraged staff to ensure the public can find and use the new tool.
