The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners confirmed recruitment steps for the fire department at its Jan. 7, 2026 meeting. The firefighter orientation and written exam are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026 at 8:00 a.m. at Fire Department headquarters, and candidate interviews will be held on Feb. 11, 2026 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Lansing Municipal Center.
