Builder asks Elko County for three-month grace on 2024 code; county staff to return with options
A production-builder asked the commission to add an agenda item seeking a three‑month administrative grace period before Elko County requires the 2024 building code for plan submittals, saying contractors received only about 2½ months' notice. County staff said the effective date comes from a January resolution and will bring the issue back for consideration.

Michael Stevens, representing VEK Construction, told the Elko County Board of Commissioners he and local production builders learned only recently that the county intends to require the 2024 building code for plan submittals beginning July 3, 2026, and that the short notice is disrupting projects that rely on master reuse plans.
