Sheriff reports improved clearance rates, LPR rollout and drone use for searches
The sheriff reported year-over-year improvements in clearance rates and reductions in property crime, described licensing and deployment of license-plate readers and drones for searches and rescues, and said the department currently has nine vacancies.

The sheriff briefed the commission on public-safety metrics, comparing 2010 to 2024 figures: increases in arrests and proactive enforcement, a reported 71% decrease in property crimes, and an improvement in clearance (solvability) rates (reporting 86.08% in 2024 versus 21.25% in 2010 for cited units). The sheriff said arrests for DUI and drug enforcement activity rose due to more proactive operations.
