Board members expressed concern that cumulative approvals could place growing pressure on municipal lots and on-street spaces, with one member offering an anecdote about high overnight municipal-lot use that impedes short errands: "if you wanna pick up takeout from Momo, you better have somebody else in the car with you so you can double park because there's no space gonna be anywhere," the member said. Members argued that even if each applicant's traffic study shows available spaces, the cumulative effect of multiple approvals may outstrip that apparent capacity.
Staff said private developers typically supply traffic-utilization snapshots and that compiling those studies into an annual picture could be useful but is labor-intensive. Staff provided consultant pricing the board had received previously: an initial parking-utilization count estimated at about $25,000, with updates afterward in the $12,000–$17,000 range. The board asked staff to try to pull existing utilization data from developer-submitted traffic studies as a first step.
