Leagues warn state AED rules and training costs could strain volunteer programs

Participants said those costs — and the logistics of ensuring a trained person is present at every event — are difficult for volunteer boards to sustain.
Commissioners noted the city's limited enforcement role but acknowledged the public‑safety rationale. "I think I put $10,000 for somebody to help coordinate between the leagues, background checks, you know, the MD trainings," the Chair said, signaling a budgetary note to support coordination. County public‑health representatives and public safety officials were suggested as partners to run pooled training sessions and reduce per‑person costs.
