Reeder Construction reports MPSC progress; contractor accepts responsibility for Brock Intermediate incidents

Reeder Construction provided a progress update on Brock ISD's Multipurpose Student Center and addressed recent incidents at Brock Intermediate during the board meeting on Nov. 10.

Jeff Stephens, representing Reeder Construction, reported that three bays of structural steel have been installed in the practice area, metal panels and framing are being placed in the band hall, sidewalk installation is underway, ductwork strapping has been completed and most metal framing is expected to be finished by the end of December. "Three bays of structural steel have been installed in the practice area," Stephens said during the update, and he provided aerial photos from late October with the construction status.

Cole Reeder, who addressed the board about the incidents at Brock Intermediate, outlined the causes and the corrective actions Reeder Construction has taken. He "took full responsibility for the issues" and reaffirmed the company's confidence in the safety of the building, the board minutes show. Corey Mabe, who oversees safety management, spoke to the specific incidents and the steps taken to remediate them.

The presentation did not include a formal board vote. Trustees asked for and received a summary of corrective measures and timelines; the contractor represented that further framing work will continue through December. The board will monitor progress as the district receives further updates from Reeder Construction and district staff.
