Trustees voted unanimously Jan. 20 to decline adoption of a statutory resolution under Education Code 25.0823 that would require a period of prayer and reading of the Bible or other religious text at every campus.

At the Jan. 20 meeting, Trustee Katie McCallister moved to decline adoption of the statutory resolution that would require every campus to provide a period of prayer and reading of the Bible or other religious text as provided by Education Code 25.0823. Trustee Ben Lane seconded; trustees Scot Bonner, Katie McCallister, Jeff Lawson, Ben Lane, Shane Carter, and Blake Ward voted in favor and the motion carried.
