Committee expands Downtown Social District to include Smitty and Pearls
The committee approved an ordinance amendment to section 11-11-1 to expand High Point—s downtown social district to include Smitty and Pearls; the amendment will take effect Sept. 1 and signage funds are available in the 2026-27 budget, staff said.

The committee considered Ordinance 2026-284, an amendment to section 11-11-1 (Social Districts) that would expand the Downtown Social District to include Smitty and Pearls. Jeron Hollis, managing director, presented the boundary change and said the amendment would take effect on Sept. 1 to allow time for signage updates.
