Olton ISD authorizes additional Public Information Act response days for 2026
Summary
The Olton ISD board authorized the superintendent to designate extra district closure days for Public Information Act responses in 2026, including March 16–18, Nov. 25 and 27, and Dec. 24, 28–31. The motion passed unanimously.
The Olton ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously on Sept. 29 to allow the superintendent to designate additional closed days for the district in relation to Public Information Act (PIA) requests for calendar year 2026.
Trustee Meghan DeBerry moved to permit the superintendent to designate March 16–18, Nov. 25 and 27, and Dec. 24 and Dec. 28–31 as additional days the district will treat as closed for PIA request response purposes. Brent Burns seconded the motion. The board recorded the motion as passing 6-0-0.
The designation allows district staff discretion to treat those dates as nonbusiness days for calculating response time under the PIA; specific implementation and any notice to requesting parties will be handled by the superintendent's office.
