DeWitt County IT technician reports progress, seeks admin access to deploy seven computers

Ethan Aughenbaugh, DeWitt County IT technician, told the Compliance and Technology Ad Hoc Committee on March 12 that he has addressed a series of routine outages and is preparing a rollout of new county computers but lacks the administrator access needed to complete deployments.
“Currently, I am facing the challenge of slowly getting admin access,” Aughenbaugh said, adding that he has removed Microsoft licenses for former employees and has been shown how to deploy computers by vendor staff. He reported roughly seven computers are ready to replace older machines once he receives the required credentials from the vendor and IT systems (JIT account and NinjaOne access).
Aughenbaugh outlined additional operational steps including creation of a ticketing workflow so staff can email requests and the county will auto-notify the technician. He also proposed a device lifecycle policy targeting about four years of use; he noted Dell warranties commonly cover three years, and said lifecycle timing would be contingent on budget availability. Committee members reviewed the attached written report and the February–March support logs that list routine items such as printer failures, onboarding setups and password resets.
The committee did not take a formal vote on policy changes during the meeting. The committee set its next regular meeting for April 16, 2026, when members may revisit policy placement and deployment timing.
