The county board adopted a resolution affirming that data centers are not an allowable use under the existing DeWitt County Zoning Code and that any such project would require a text amendment prior to special-use or building-permit review. Carter introduced the resolution and moved an amendment to remove the words "nuclear power plant known as the Clinton Clean Energy Center" and replace them with "electric generation facilities."
The amendment and the final resolution were adopted on recorded votes. Member Earle abstained on both the amendment and the final motion; the rest of the board voted to approve the revised language and to affirm the limitation on data centers under the current code.
