Rancho Elementary principal and students spotlighted; 'Rancho Riders' bike‑and‑walk program praised

Principal Catherine Nam introduced Rancho Elementary and thanked district leadership, staff and families for support during a leadership absence. Nam praised the school's MTSS structures, counseling and restorative practices and thanked the PTA and volunteers for keeping enrichment and supervision in place.
"I'm Catherine Nam, and I'm the incredibly proud and grateful principal of Rancho Elementary School," Nam told the board before introducing students who participate in the Rancho Riders bike‑and‑walk program.
Fifth‑graders Sol Shankle and Theo described how their bike bus began in kindergarten and grew to include up to a dozen regular riders (sometimes more), with mileage badges awarded for milestones. Sol told the board the round‑trip ride is approximately three miles and that riding in groups increases safety: "It's a 3 mile round trip." Theo emphasized the social and environmental benefits and reported more than 50 students currently ride or walk to school across related groups.
Board members congratulated the students and thanked staff and families supporting the program.
