Peekskill seeks bids to repair Fleischmann Pier floating docks; estimate under $90,000

Carol Samuel, a planning department official, told the Common Council that the city needs to inspect and repair the 250-foot floating docks at Fleischmann Pier after a harsh winter left pilings leaning and some damage to dock elements. She described the planned work as both repairs and adjustments so the docks will be easier to winterize and maintain.
"We're we're expecting the cost not to exceed $90,000," Carol Samuel said, noting the figure is based on a cost estimate the city received. Samuel told the council the work would likely be packaged as a single bid and said the replacement of dock elements and necessary adjustments are included in that estimate. The planning department and city manager also said the city's insurance carrier is reviewing the damage for potential coverage.
The council unanimously approved a resolution (resolution j13) authorizing staff to solicit bids and move forward with the dock work and related reconstruction. City staff said they will issue an RFP for floating docks in May and that the work is intended to make future winterization and maintenance less expensive and more straightforward.
