Consultant briefs committee on BLM’s sage‑grouse Resource Management Plan amendment process

Jeremy Drew (Resource Concepts, Inc.) told the committee the BLM was briefing its offices and cooperative agencies on the 2015 and 2025 Resource Management Plans and was taking feedback on the proposed roll‑out. He said the backup materials included maps showing priority, general and other areas and that mapped sage‑grouse habitat had been reduced range‑wide since 2015, but he cautioned the change could not be precisely quantified from the materials provided.
Drew and BLM representatives later clarified that determining non‑habitat involves a core team including BLM, Nevada Department of Wildlife, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Sagebrush Ecosystem Technical Team, and that no official update to maps would be released until that technical process was complete. The committee was informed of a special work session with NACO scheduled for May 7 to review concerns and provide coordinated feedback.
