Road & Bridge Superintendent Jim Meier told the commission staff is ready to advertise the county’s 2026 pavement and bridge projects and asked for authorization to solicit bids.
Meier outlined the scope: “the HMA project will consist of surfacing 9.6 miles of pavement, the Microsurfacing project will seal 20 miles of roadway and the bridge to be replaced is K‑15.9 on NW 12th St. just west of N. Ridge Rd.” Commissioners authorized staff to advertise for bids on the HMA, microsurfacing and K‑15.9 bridge replacement projects. Meier said the bridge replacement candidate (K‑15.9) has been submitted for state Cost Share consideration; financial impact language in the project packet said the bridge would be paid using in‑house funds from prior CIP lettings or the 2026 CIP if necessary.
The motion to advertise the projects for bid passed unanimously. The county will publish bid documents and proceed with procurement consistent with standard county bidding procedures.
