"They were 47 students over the projected number, and she shared that today they have 8 more," Deboy said as she described the district's daily and weekly monitoring to identify and address large class-size "bubbles." She told the board staff had already moved a teacher from East Orient to Powell Valley and used grant funding to add a section at Hall to address imbalances.
Board members asked for trend context and past-year comparisons to help interpret the single-year snapshot; Deboy said larger shifts are typically seen at the high-school level and that staff will continue close monitoring, particularly after school breaks. The board also requested historical data to better evaluate whether short-term reassignments are adequate to address workload and student needs.
