Dr. Tim Collins and Assistant Superintendent Heidi Lasher presented fall 2025 academic diagnostics, reporting that elementary iReady reading results remain relatively flat over three years with decoding outpacing comprehension. Lasher noted disparities: 4% of EML students were at or above grade level in reading versus 25% of non‑EML students; 11% of students with IEPs were at or above grade level versus 22% without IEPs.
On math, Collins said elementary math remains flat and board members voiced concern that only about 15% of students are on track for grade level in math. Board members asked whether the pattern will affect graduation outcomes or increase modified diplomas; Collins said the district is using targeted interventions rather than seeing an increase in modified diplomas and that COVID learning disruptions remain a factor.
