Superintendent reports SIS transition, safety training and improved AP results

Superintendent Dr. Gerdin provided the summer report and said the district is transitioning from eSchool to Synergy as its new student information system; he described multiple staff trainings to prepare for the change and warned of implementation challenges while praising the staff leading the effort. "Transitioning to a new SIS is a heavy lift and a significant change," he said, noting other nearby districts are also implementing Synergy this year.
Gerdin also summarized safety training: district leaders, law enforcement and emergency responders attended an integrated emergency-response training and an updated reunification-protocol workshop. On academics, he said the high school had a 59 percent AP pass rate — the highest in five years — and reported the district had 12 AP Scholars, two with honors and two with distinction. "So this year, we had 12 AP scholars, which is pretty cool," Gerdin said, and thanked teachers and administrators for their work.
