The Lubbock County Commissioners Court approved a new compensation policy on Feb. 9, 2026, after an extended discussion about how the county will classify jobs, set pay bands and implement the changes. Human Resources Director Melanie Hall said the policy establishes guiding principles and a job-classification structure to "build a compensation program that attracts, motivates, and retains qualified and diverse workforce."
