"We want all the kids to come to school here," Crane said in arguing for a faster process, adding administrators typically review attendance and grades before approving an incoming student. Trustees debated the legal framing: one trustee read the Education Code language noting that "the governing boards of two or more school districts may enter into an agreement," and asked whether that requires a board‑level master agreement instead of repeated board votes.
Trustees directed the superintendent to continue signing transfers so students can be enrolled at the start of school, while the district will consult county superintendent Brock and, if needed, the district's legal counsel. Crane said he would place interdistrict spreadsheets on the consent agenda for board review and seek formal guidance: "So for now, I'm gonna go ahead and keep signing because the school year is underway, and we will put it on the consent agenda. And I will reach out to Brock and get his answer."
Board members emphasized they want to ensure the district follows Ed. Code and its own policy; several trustees suggested updating the county interdistrict form and returning with any recommended policy revisions.
