Lighthouse Point joins 'Recycle Right' campaign; commission approves public-education resolution

City staff announced that Lighthouse Point has joined the National League of Cities/Waste Management 'Recycle Right' campaign and recommended the commission adopt a local outreach program. Staff listed four core recycling rules for public education: recycle bottles, cans, paper and cardboard; keep food and liquids out of recycling containers; do not place loose plastic bags in the cart; and do not bag recyclables. Staff and a Waste Management representative will host outreach tables at upcoming city events and provide social-media and newsletter materials.
