Sheriff asks commissioners for two towable Verkada camera trailers and security camera enhancements

James said the trailers are small, towable, solar/battery-powered units that can be monitored at dispatch when deployed and that the county has received requests from courthouse security and various department heads to address coverage gaps. "I'm asking for the 2 Verkada trailers just to keep continuing enhancing our, asset protection, deterrent," James said, adding that the county can function without them but prefers two so units can be deployed while others remain in use.
He also explained that separate Verkada security camera requests for buildings would replace smaller, piecemeal camera purchases and that some previously listed camera lines would be removed if the bulk Verkada order is approved. Commissioners asked clarifying questions about which camera lines would be subsumed; James said those lines would be covered in the planned bulk procurement.
