Spokane County says comprehensive plan on track for completion, will continue to accept EIS comments

Scott Chesney, a planner with Spokane County Planning, opened the August 5 virtual session by saying the comprehensive plan update is nearing completion and that the county is producing a final environmental impact statement alongside the plan. "We're coming together to the home stretch of our work, anticipating completion by December '26," Chesney said.
Chesney outlined the process that will carry the plan through the planning commission and then to the Board of County Commissioners. He said the county is still taking comments on the draft EIS and is incorporating feedback: "We are still taking comments, and we are making edits." The county will post a matrix showing how comments were addressed ahead of planning commission meetings and will hold additional public hearings in late October and November.
The planner gave two near‑term dates: a preview for the planning commission on the 13th and preliminary materials to the board of county commissioners on the 24th. He directed residents to the comprehensive plan and planning commission web pages for the latest documents and said users can sign up for e‑mail notifications when materials are updated.
