Superintendent Jeff Crane acknowledged the difficulty of the work and told trustees the administration will begin earlier this year to assemble details for a deficit-elimination plan, noting staff has already enacted some reductions without requiring layoffs. The board asked staff to prepare a sketch of the proposed process for the August meeting and to present detailed priorities on September 18.
The resolution was moved and seconded during the meeting and passed unanimously; trustees emphasized balancing county certification requirements with community transparency as next steps.
