The Smyth County Board authorized county administration and economic development staff to work with participating localities and legal counsel to draft Regional Industrial Facilities Authority (RIFA) agreements and governance documents for future Board review.

On July 9 the Board voted to authorize the County Administrator and economic development staff to collaborate with participating towns and legal counsel to draft governance documents for a potential Smyth Strong Regional Industrial Facilities Authority (RIFA). The motion, made by Saltville District Supervisor Roscoe Call and seconded by Jason Parris, passed unanimously.
