County accepts $53,000 STRIVE grant to expand intimate-partner violence interventions

The committee accepted a $53,000 DCJS STRIVE grant to fund Batterers Intervention Program cycles and facilitator training; officials said year-one funds ($43,000) were used to train facilitators and the county is already planning for a third year of STRIVE.

Legislator John J. Revella moved to accept and appropriate a Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) STRIVE grant for Statewide Targeted Reductions in Intimate Partner Violence in the amount of $53,000. The motion was seconded by Kathy Stegenga and carried. The initiative involves the Office of the District Attorney, Sheriff’s Office, several cities and the nonprofit Fearless; probation will use year-two funds to run four Batterers Intervention Program cycles.
