County approves Motorola interface, Lumen internet upgrade and Civic Plus website contract

Commissioners approved several technology and public‑safety contracts at the Dec. 17 meeting. The sheriff's office requested a purchase agreement with Motorola Solutions to implement a state‑mandated, state‑grant funded interface that will automatically upload records to the state database; staff said the grant covers the cost and there will be no county expense. "It was awarded for the total amount... there would be no cost to the county," the sheriff's representative said.

IT Director Thomas Johnson presented a plan to increase the county’s internet bandwidth from roughly 30 Mbps to 1 Gbps via Lumen (CenturyLink), noting a monthly price increase to about $800 but an offered credit to avoid double billing during transition; commissioners approved the contract and authorized the chair to sign. Separately, Christine presented a consolidated Civic Plus contract to combine website and the new Civic Optimized forms/routing product; the initial year price presented for the county's portion was $21,768.75 and the board approved entry into the contract pending receipt of the vendor's signed document.
