The Shelby County Board of Supervisors on March 17 adopted Resolution No. 2026-16, imposing a temporary moratorium on commercial digital asset mining and data centers in unincorporated Shelby County. The resolution cites concern that such facilities "have the potential to create an excessive burden on the County’s infrastructure as well as nearby property owners," and directs staff to study approval requirements consistent with the county zoning ordinance.
