Council introduced Ordinance F of 2026, which would modify chapter 250 of the Amsterdam city code to update temporary sign regulations and remove content-based restrictions.
Alderman Kelly, who presented the ordinance, said the changes remove antiquated, content-based rules and make the code more universal: "...updating some antiquated content based regulations, making taking away the content bases, and, making it very universal for everyone." Sponsors said public outreach would include Facebook notices to explain the new guidelines if the ordinance is adopted.
The ordinance was placed on the agenda for a vote later in the meeting; council members noted improvements already observed under the draft changes.
