The Story County Board of Supervisors opened three bids on Aug. 4 for the Hannah's Mill Dam Modification Project and instructed county engineering staff to tabulate and verify totals before the board considers awarding the contract.
Pat Sheehan, who led the bid opening, said the bid bonds appeared to be in order and that the engineering division would compile the final bid tabulation. Speakers at the podium and the table discussed preliminary totals: one attendee stated a calculation of "$674,001.46," another offered a tally of "749,445.50," and a county reviewer noted R & W Excavating Solutions listed a written total of "$695,044.26." A separate apparent submission from a bidder identified as Michaels Corporation showed an anomalous figure that staff said would require further review.
"We'll get that verified once we get this into bid tabulation," Sheehan said, explaining that staff and engineers would reconcile the line-item math and post an accurate summary for the board next week. The board did not take an award or further action; the item will return with verified numbers and any recommendation from county staff.
