Board hears staffing update and TEA accountability changes that will affect incoming 9th graders

Superintendent Darla Nolen outlined forthcoming college, career, and military readiness (CCMR) and statewide accountability changes communicated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and ESC-12. Nolen said there will be an accountability refresh in 2028 and that a weighted CCMR will take effect in 2030, which will affect incoming ninth graders in 2026–27; the board discussed recruiting middle school students into high school pathways and potential growth of CTE pathways to meet new accountability expectations.
