Council approves solid-waste rate adjustment, members press contractor on service problems
Council approved the contractually required annual rate adjustment for CR&R but several council members pressed for enforcement after complaints that alleys and service standards were not met; Council directed staff to address contract compliance as part of the approval.

Finance Director Elms told the council the City’s franchise with CR&R allows an annual rate adjustment effective July 1. Council Member Halby used the hearing to press for enforcement, saying CR&R has failed to meet contract terms and that "they have not kept our alleys clean. It’s unacceptable." Halby said the city must ensure the contractor "abide by it, every single line."
