Burleson ISD expands teacher pipeline with TechTeach partnership
District staff reported the inaugural TechTeach cohort produced five teachers for 2024–2025; the program places Texas Tech undergraduates in BISD classrooms beginning in their junior year with on-site mentors.

District staff updated the board on TechTeach, a BISD partnership with Texas Tech University that places undergraduate teaching candidates in two-year, in-district internships. Mrs. Christy Strayhorn, TechTeach site coordinator, said the program places candidates beginning in their junior year so they can learn district practices and build mentoring relationships; the inaugural class produced five teachers for the 2024–2025 school year.
