Task force refines streetscape graphics and flags express-lane/Metro coordination for later study

Staff presented updated streetscape mock-ups for Fair Lakes Parkway, Monument Drive and Government Center Parkway, showing possible separated shared-use paths, street trees and pedestrian-friendly cross-sections rather than strict dimensional prescriptions. "We reworked the graphics on Fair Lakes Parkway, Monument Drive, Government Center Parkway to show more of that vantage point," Ryan said while describing the intent to provide examples rather than mandatory configurations.

Tom, representing DOT at the meeting, said the group will need later coordination to reconcile express-lane ramp placements, the government-center overpass and future Metro rail alignment, noting the placement of ramps on the north side could complicate crossing the rail. He said the Transportation Advisory Committee will receive an informational update and that technical solutions will be worked out as project readiness advances.
