Board hears facilities update after storms; asbestos testing estimate presented

Superintendent Jennifer Bordner and staff reported multiple roof and room leaks after heavy rains on July 4–7 that affected elementary rooms, engineering rooms and Coach White's classrooms. The new gym showed leaks near roof peaks and AC units, the minutes say.
Bordner told the board that asbestos testing — 99 samples in total — could be completed by a San Angelo-based company for $3,500 after Sept. 1. The item was informational and required no motion; the board recorded the facilities concerns and will monitor repairs and testing plans.
Athletic Director Zack White also reported that the athletic field "is looking good and growing like crazy," and reminded the board of the football season starting in three weeks.
